Unit Abstract: The purpose of this unit is to improve students science vocabulary skills and computer skills, while at the same time making learning fun and meaningful. Five classes participated in the project, which included each student finding three science related words in various media. They found science words from magazines, television, the Internet, video, audio, etc. They were not permitted to use their text books for information. The students were then required to find the definition of the word and bring in an actual media example in an electronic form. After a significant number of words were compiled, two Biology classes made Power Point projects that showed the definitions and examples of between five and ten words for each letter of the alphabet. |
